Precious Pooches
This is the story of 4 creatures who remind us every day of our humaness and how lucky we are to be alive. They supply us with abundant love, comfort, entertainment and purpose. Here are 3 of them at the beach - Taylor, Kelcey and Patch. Chance is on his way!

Patch the wanderer
Of all the dogs to wander from the front gate Patch is the most unlikley suspect but for some reason he has recently taken it upon himself to indulge in this most frustrating pleasure. Always the one to snuggle up behind my legs when the others are rampaging through the house or scurrying under the farm gates, Patch is the one who defiantly stays planted at home with his "mother" (me) when the other 3 are on the back of the ute ready to go to the farm. His penchant for leaving the front yard is a recent one and not something I can make sense of. Without provocation from humans or canines he walks leisurely out the fornt door, down the driveway and voila he is not to be seen. Despite me calling and arousing barks from the other dogs as an incentive to return he will not come. This has happened 3 times in the last month and for the life of me it breaks my heart in two everytime to think "this is it, he's gone, we won't see him again". Not long ago he left us from early in the morning 'til late at night and I did the full text book cycle of grief and loss in that one day. The thing of it is he's a dog and despite the fact that I know he loves me unconditionally and with favour he still has the calling of the wolf inside of him. And I want and need to respect that but by god it takes every ounce of my devotion for him not to squeeze him to his death each time he returns.....and he'll never know what it does to me or how much I adore and resent him all in a split second.
